EpicMan 2022 - Report by our Grand Prix Coordinator

Race 6 of the Grand Prix series and what an ‘epic’ day by the sounds of it. Epicman living up to its name freezing cold swim, undulating bike with over 5000ft of climbing in the middle distance race and 1500ft for the standard just be thankful the run looks like it comes up short

But not to be outdone the middle distance racers took up the challenge. Andy Rogers struggled on the swim, suffered on the bike but a blistering 1.42 1/2 marathon saw him finish 5th in the v50 category just imagine what he could do if any of the first 2 disciplines went as well as the run

Dan Evans had a strong swim following up with a decent bike and run to finish all on the back of his recent wedding and honeymoon, congratulations Dan by the way. He finished in a respectable 47th in the open category

Alan Herilhy also in the competitive V50 category had a good swim and bike and a strong run to finish coming home 19th in the V50 category.

Julia took on the standard distance which is just as well as she threatened the timing chip with a dip in the water without her had she been doing the middle distance . But form is temporary class is permanent and Julia definitely has class. She plugs away at every discipline and always come home strong.

The Grand Prix series continues to hot up with results piling on the board. The mathematical equation that calculates the age grading for your results is a joy that thankfully most of you will never experience. I can’t wait for the entire population of Rochdale to descend on lakesman in 3 weeks time.
